Horace Bushnell was a friend of Thomas H. Gallaudet and interested in education and the deaf school.
He was the minister at the North Congregational Church in Hartford (now Immanuel Congregational Church) from 1833 - 1859.
He was influential in having Hartford become the capitol of Connecticut.
It was his idea to have a park in the center of Hartford. The park was called City Park for many years. Now it is known as Bushnell Park.
