Catherine Beecher
Catherine Beecher wrote many school text books and with the help of Thomas H. Gallaudet, founded the Hartford Female Seminary, a pioneering school for young ladies.
- Catherine's family was very famous. One of her sisters was Harriet Beecher Stowe.
- She was a very close friend of the Cogswell family.
- She was instrumental and influential in the abolitionist movement and promoting women's rights.
